Education Presentation Assistant-Grade 5 “Thinking About Epilepsy”
As an Education Presentation Assistant your role is to directly support the Education Coordinator in the facilitation of presentations to schools and community groups. With such a small staff, it is very difficult to manage all of our commitments without your assistance to prepare for education presentations and bring the “Thinking About Epilepsy” program to our service region.
Your main duty in this role is to perform a simulated tonic-clonic (convulsive) seizure during Grade 5 presentations. All volunteers will be trained to perform a seizure safely and sensitively.
You will travel with a staff member for this position. No vehicle required.

Duties:- Assist with the preparation of materials for presentations
- Distribute materials (surveys, handouts etc) before and after presentations
- Supervise the completion of student surveys
- Actively participate in tonic-clonic seizure first aid simulation
- Co-facilitate Power Point presentation
- Other duties as requested
Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work as a team and work independently
- Physical ability to perform a tonic-clonic seizure
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office
Presentation are done during regular school hours 9:30am-3:30pm. As presentations are booked by schools throughout the year on an individual basis, volunteers are able to dedicate as little as a few hours a week in order to participate.
